you learn to fight what you fear
or you fall.
[i'm drowning in myself
i need someone else
but sometimes asking for help
hurts more than pain itself]
you learn to sleep with the enemies
or you wither.
[i'm deteriorating in myself
i need someone else
but sometimes it's harder to cry
than to bite your lip and smile]
you learn to deal with the pain
or you cry.
and crying just isn't allowed
and after awhile,
you'll forget how.
give in to the darkness,
before you burn in the light.
[you learn to surrender
when you're too weak to fight]
you learn to save yourself
or you go unsaved.
cuz there's no one in this world
going to save you a place
or help you get ahead
in this inhuman race.
give in to the cruelty,
cuz they'll kill you for your kindness.
[you learn to blend in
when you're too tired to make a difference]
did you realize
how far i've atrophized
how little of the innocence
has survived?
[i've pushed the self-destruct on destructed self
needing the help of a someone else
but the strength ~ the words ~ the voice
all erased by my own choice]
sometimes it's easier just to hide
than forsake the sins and your pride
and after awhile you learn to rely on yourself
when you've never been taught
to trust anyone else
[you learn to crawl from the darkness
so you can burn in the light]
