You smile back
A smile devoid of all feelings
You try to delude me
But I see through your facade
You can fool my eyes, but you cannot fool my feelings
My spine shivers in response
Wondering if that smile was your warmest
I opened myself up to you
Expecting a warm embrace
Instead, I'm rewarded with an icey shoulder
Where did I go wrong?
I close the doors
To keep out the cold
Huddle in the corner
Save whatever warmth I can muster
My day has grown darker, colder
I move on with my heart in tow
