Summer

Summer silently shimmers
Taking, draining, drawing, wilting
Endlessly reminding the living
Of their feeble place on this Earth.
My sweat clings close around me
Like a cheap polyester suit
Clinging in all the wrong place
And accentuating my discomfort.
I endlessly struggle to find relief
Or some engrossing distraction
To alleviate this cumulative torture
Over which I have no control.
